Artem Datsishin Death Reason

He was one of the few Ukrainian celebrities to have survived the Russian assault which involved the storming of several government buildings and media centers across the country. Ukrainian ballet star and father of two, Artem Datsishin, has passed away after being injured in the Russian assault on Kyiv. Born in 1975 in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson, Artem began his ballet career at the age of 10. He rose to prominence in 2003 after winning first prize at the St Petersburg International Ballet Competition and went on to become a principal dancer with the Kyiv Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko reacted via Twitter: “The death of dancer Artem Datsishin is an immense loss for our country. Our sincere condolences to his family.” People across Ukraine, and the art world internationally, are mourning a great loss today as word spreads that one of eastern Europe’s most prominent ballet dancers has died. Artem Datsishin passed away after sustaining injuries sustained in vicious rioting which swept the streets of the Ukrainian capital last week.

The dancer was reportedly struck by a Molotov cocktail and managed to escape the flames but not before sustaining significant burns. In a tragic piece of history, 43-year-old Artem Datsishin died this week in Ukraine, in the midst of the renewed violence that is taking over Kyiv. Datsun was a star dancer with the Ukrainian National Ballet. He’s left behind a wife and two children. There have been no other details released about his death.
